Bail Set at $1 Million for Kingston Kidnapping, Child Rape Suspect

Bail was set at $1 million Friday for a 48-year-old Kingston man charged with first-degree kidnapping and third-degree child rape.

Kitsap County Sheriff’s detectives received information earlier this week that a missing 15-year-old Florida girl was with the suspect, whom she met on a social mediasite, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.

Detectives had been working around the clock to locate this victim and take her into protective custody; officers found the girl in Kennewick, Washington, the release states. The suspect was arrested yesterday afternoon in Kennewick; the Kitsap sheriff’s office had assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service and the Kennewick Police Department, according to the release.

Washington State officials are coordinating with authorities in Florida to return the girl to her home state.

After taking the suspect into custody, officers transported him to Kitsap County late Thursday night, where he was booked into the Kitsap County Jail, the release states.

The man will make an initial appearance in Kitsap County Superior Court at 9 a.m. Monday.

Kitsap County Sheriff Gary Simpson expressed appreciation to the U.S. Marshals Service and Kennewick Police Department for their assistance, according to the release.

“This was a great cooperative effort by law enforcement agencies across the state for a successful outcome,” Simpson said.
