Central Kitsap Student Arrested After Threatening to Kill Someone
A 14-year-old Central Kitsap boy appeared in Kitsap County Juvenile Court Monday morning after he allegedly threatened to kill someone, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.
The boy, a student at Ridgetop Middle School (RHS) in Silverdale, faces a charge of felony harassment for the threat following an investigation Thursday at RHS, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.
Sheriff’s patrol deputies responded in the early afternoon to a report from school administrators concerning a plan allegedly concocted by the boy involving threats to kill others at the school using firearms.
Two RHS students reportedly learned of the threats through second-hand conversation and reported them to a faculty member. Students were released from classes while an investigation was initiated.
Sheriff’s detectives were called out to assist and continue with the investigation; the detectives reportedly identified the boy as the suspect and established probable cause to arrest him.
The boy was taken into custody around 8:30 p.m. and booked into the Kitsap County Youth Services Center, a juvenile detention center.
Sheriff’s patrol deputies remained on campus at RHS on Friday as a precautionary measure.
During judicial proceedings, the court ordered the boy released without bail, on his personal recognizance into the custody of his guardian, on conditions of house arrest.
The boy’s next court appearance is scheduled for 10 a.m. April 7.
