Driver Arrested for DUI After Allegedly Plowing Through Signs on Highway 303
A 23-year-old Port Orchard man was arrested on a charge of DUI yesterday morning after he drove off the road, damaging signs, shrubs and parked cars.
Brennen D. Fernie, 23, of Port Orchard, was arrested on a charge of DUI following the incident, according to a Washington State Patrol report.
The WSP’s report gives the following account of what happened:
Fernie was driving a silver 2002 Chevrolet Suburban southbound on Highway 303, about a quarter mile north of Bremerton, when his vehicle drove off the left side of the road, striking several signs on the northbound shoulder, as well as several shrubs.
The car continued moving forward, striking two unoccupied, parked vehicles in a parking lot.
The car got back on the highway, crossed the southbound shoulder, struck a fire hydrant, and came to a stop.
No one was injured in the incident, according to the report.
Ironically, one of the signs Fernie knocked over implored drivers not to drink and drive, according to a Tweet by WSP Trooper Russ Winger:
This sign-and other things-hit this AM on SR303. Driver arrested for DUI. Vehicle missed bus stop by feet. Ironic? pic.twitter.com/wFkCpuLAwC
