Lakebay woman injured in Bremerton car accident on Monday

A woman from Lakebay was injured in a car accident in Bremerton around 8:22 a.m. Monday morning.

According to a report from the Washington State Patrol, a 21-year-old woman from Alamogordo, New Mexico, was driving a red 2003 Mazda Protege northbound on Highway 3 from the Highway 304 on-ramp, when she lost control and crossed two lanes. The woman reportedly struck a 1997 Ford Mustang driven by a 45-year-old woman from Lakebay.

The woman from Lakebay was reportedly injured and transported to Harrison Medical Center.

The Alamogordo woman then reportedly struck the center concrete barrier before driving back into the highway and striking a brown 1994 Buick Lesabre driven by 58-year-old man from Port Orchard.

The WSP report lists the cause as speed, and states second-degree negligent driving as possible charges.

Drugs or alcohol were not involved in the accident, according to the WSP.
