Police investigating Bremerton homicide

Police are investigating a homicide that took place Nov. 7 in Bremerton.

According to police, 87-year-old Floyd Zumwalt was murdered in his residence in the 100 block of Lebo Boulevard.

While media have reported that a person is in custody in relation to the homicide case, Bremerton police clarified in a press release that the man in question was arrested on an unrelated outstanding arrest warrant.

“Detectives continue to collect evidence and interview persons related to the case, but no persons are in custody for the homicide,” the release states.

An autopsy is scheduled for Nov. 10; the specifics regarding the cause of death will be released by the Kitsap County Coroner’s Office.

If the police department receives any new information or if anyone is arrested in connection with the homicide, the department will release the information as soon as possible, according to the release.
