Sheriff’s office arrests shooting suspect in Poulsbo
The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday arrested a Bremerton man wanted in connection with a shooting in rural central Kitsap County.
Zechariah Scott Chadwick, 28, of Bremerton, was arrested Saturday evening in the parking lot of the Poulsbo Walmart, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.
Sheriff’s deputies, acting on information concerning Chadwick’s whereabouts, approached the parked Volkswagen station wagon on foot with the assistance of Poulsbo police officers, the release states. They reportedly found Chadwick in the front passenger seat of the vehicle. Chadwick reportedly complied with the deputies’ verbal commands and he was taken into custody without incident.
The search for Chadwick followed a shooting that occurred mid-morning on Oct. 20 on Northwest Hood Canal Farms Road in central Kitsap County, west of Silverdale.
One of the victims in that incident, a 27-year-old Silverdale man, was shot in the leg when Chadwick reportedly fired multiple rounds of a large caliber, semi-automatic rifle at the pickup truck the victim was sitting in, the release states.
The gunshot wound was not life-threatening. The driver of the pickup truck was uninjured.
Chadwick was transported to Kitsap County Jail, where he was booked on an outstanding warrant for first-degree assault with a deadly weapon. Bail was set at $250,000.
